One of God's angels, Morgan Zane Marek, age four years and nine months, returned to Him Sunday, February 26, 2006, at the Arnold Palmer Women and Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida, after a very courageous two-year battle with leukemia. Morgan and his family were in the midst of a "grand adventure" on his "Wish Trip" sponsored by the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas and Give Kids the World, Kissimmee, Florida.

Morgan was born on May 19, 2001, in San Antonio to Clay and Lori Fullilove Marek. Morgan was a life-long resident of Devine, but was an accomplished "traveler" and "adventurer" for his short four years. He traveled often to Gonzales where his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins live and to East Texas to visit extended family. He enjoyed taking trips to the Padre Island National Seashore, and he spent summer vacations traveling all over Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana as well as one special trip to Negril, Jamaica. Morgan liked going on animal safaris to see both exotic and native wildlife, exploring caves, and anything that had to do with ocean/sea-life, sharks, or alligators. Morgan also enjoyed having company; playing with his puppy dogs, building things with Legos, blocks, and occasionally, real tools; playing with cars, dinosaurs, action figures, and pretend swords; watching movies and playing video games; and just spending time with his family. When Morgan was able to attend school, he was a student at The Little Red Rooster Pre-school in Devine where he had many special friends and teachers. Morgan was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Gonzales.

Morgan is survived by his parents and older sister, Emma Kate (Katy) of Devine; paternal grandmother Colleen Jones Marek, and maternal grandmother Linda Hahn Fullilove, both of Gonzales.

He will be greatly missed by his Aunt Carol Marek Oakes, Uncle Kevin and cousins Cody and Brady; his Uncle Joey Fullilove, Aunt Brenda and cousins Jonathan and Hannah, all of Gonzales; his Godparents, Michael and Maryellen Fuller of Devine; and numerous extended family and friends. Morgan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Clarence Marek, and maternal grandfather Bobby Joe Fullilove.

A celebration of Morgan's life, designed especially with his young friends in mind, is being planned for 4:30 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Devine, Dr. Glenn Young and Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiating.

A graveside service led by Pastor Stephen Clark will take place on the family ranch in Harwood at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2006. The family ranch is located just south of Hwy 90 West, on CR 437. From the intersection of Hwy 304 and 90, turn west and go two county roads past Kactus Korral. CR 437 is immediately before Sandy Fork Creek.
