Much loved by her family, always willing to help and knew everyone. Miss her greatly.

Helen "Pete" Virginia Showers Dudley, 74, of Greenwood, passed away on July 25, 2005, at University of Virginia Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born March 8, 1931 in Crozet, Va., a daughter of James Middleton and Helen Hanback Showers.

Helen retired from General Electric Corporation after 34 years of service, then started her own consulting firm which she continued until recently.

She was a wonderful mother, "Granny Pete", and "Pete Pete", and will be truely missed by her family and many friends. The family especially thanks Doug and Janet Searcy, and Mary Beverly and her daughter, Joan Carpenter, for their friendship, love, and support throughout the years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Wood; a nephew, Jimbo Showers; and Clarence Lee Dudley, the father of her son.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Gary andNancy of Greenwood; twograndchildren, Clay and his friend, Frances Michael, of Greenwood, and Carmen Ralston and her husband, Danny, of Browns Cove; twogreat-grandchildren, Channin Lee and Massie Daniel Ralston; one brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Bobbie Showers of Afton; and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m.. Friday, July 29, 2005, at McDow Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Gibson. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Greenwood.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.. Thursday, July 28, 2005, at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
