Richard was born in Middletown, Ohio, on February 6, 1948, the son of the late Earl Kirby and Jo Moore Kirby.
Richard spent several years serving his country, first working as a Military Policeman in the United States Air Force, then completing four years as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army. He was employed as a custodian by Dayton Power and Light. Richard attended the Tranquility Full Gospel Tabernacle.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Lola Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Cora Disher Kirby, whom he married on July 18, 1992. He is also survived by a step-son, Eddie Brooks, of Peebles; a sister, Darlene, of Florida, and a step-granddaughter, Liz Nimeskern.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the Tranquility Full Gospel Tabernacle, with burial to follow at the Mt. Leigh Cemetery. The services will be officiated by Bruce Lamb, Gary Ferguson, and Daniel McCann. Graveside military rites will be provided by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 5:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening at the Tranquility Full Gospel Tabernacle.
