He was a member of Regan's Chapel United Methodist Church in Hoskinsville. He loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed NASCAR, was an avid collector of 1:24 scale model cars and enjoyed working on cars and his John Deere Tractor.
He was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Allen Sponcil; his step-father Luther Sponcil and 1 brother Gregory Sponcil.
Surviving is his wife Mary M. Harmon Allen, whom he married July 5, 1969; 2 sons Johnny D. (Amy) Allen of Summerfield, Ohio and Chad M. Allen of the home; 2 sisters Deanna Dimmerling of Woodsfield and Pam (Mark) Stout of Columbus; 1 grandson Ryan Andrew Allen of Summerfield; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
