Christa Rosalynne Pipoly, of Kingsley, Michigan, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013. She was 13 years old.

Christa was born to David and Cheryl (Powell) Pipoly on February 28, 1999, in Traverse City.

Christa, also known as "Ta" to her family and friends (and "Critter" to her mom), was a model student at Kingsley Middle School. She had recently achieved the Student of the Month award and had earned four blue ribbons in solo ensemble, where she played percussion. She stayed active playing softball, basketball, volleyball and track. In addition, Christa was an honor student and a member of the Kingsley Carousel 4-H club, where she raised and showed pigs. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church and participated in the Manton Youth Group there. In her free time, Christa enjoyed her pets, doing things with her sister and families, reading, spending time and overnight stays with friends and creating new designs for painting her nails. She was born to be an actress; always making silly faces and entertaining friends, she knew how to "light" up a room.

Christa is survived by her mother, Cheryl; sister, Noelle; grandparents, Mel and Ruth Powell of Manton, Andrew and Mary Pipoly of Cadillac; and Aunt Karen (Robert) Dorie of Kingsley; favorite Aunt Sue Powell of Grand Rapids, Uncle David (Sam) Powell of Midland, Aunt Beth (Kenneth) Zuiderveen of Falmouth, Aunt Dianne (Robert) Bowers of McBain; cousins, Rachel and Megan Dorie, Michael and Matthew Powell, Jody and Chad Persons (Tyler and Morgan), Rebecca (Josh) Parmelee (Logan), Renae (Thomas) Jakubisin (Cayden and Enoch), Kendra (Chris) Jenema (Levi and McKenna), Melissa (Mike) Abbott (Austin and Caleb), Melinda Markham (Stephan and Kaylynn), Holly (Jimmie) Abbott (Evan and Owen), Lindsey Oster (Rileigh and Taylor), and Paul Oster and fiancé, Danielle (Aleah, Seth, Madison and Brianna); and many friends. Also surviving are beloved pets — horses, Bud and Bert; dogs, Peanut and Suzie; and Gus and Neil, the guinea pigs.

Christa was preceded in death by her aunt, Paula Sue Pipoly, and cousin, Robert Allan Bowers Jr.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the Kingsley High School gymnasium from 4 to 8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the high school gymnasium with visitation one hour prior. A special service for Christa's school and community will be held at 4 p.m., also at the high school gymnasium. Pastor Beth Reum of Manton United Methodist Church is officiating with Pastor Spencer Tuttle of Aetna CRC.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsley Band program or United Methodist Church of Manton.
