Barry was born in Reading, PA in 1936. He was a retired Naval Surface Warfare Center physicist and an adjunct physics professor for the NSWC/VPI&SU graduate program. After retirement from NSWC, he worked at EG&G. Barry earned his B.S. from Ursinus College, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from VPI&SU.
Barry was an avid naturalist who was an expert on coleoptera and ants. He taught and curated an insect collection for the Reading Public Museum. He was also a very knowledgeable birder.
Barry leaves behind his wife, soulmate and best friend, Ellen Brown of Fredericksburg; his mother, Lillian Bressler of Reading PA; three sisters, Sandra Bressler of Wheeling WV, Linda Zuber of Wernersville PA, Cheryl Kowal of Shillington PA; and two brothers, Glenn Bressler of Reading PA and Terry Bressler of Reading PA.
