James W. Bannon, a longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson died January 19, 2000 at Dobbs Ferry Hospital. He was 77 years old. Mr. Bannon was a skilled carpenter, working for over 30 years, until his retirement in the early 1980's. He was a veteran of the United States Army in World War II, where he saw action in Europe, most notably at Normandy, the Ardennes and Northern France. He was a charter member of the Hastings Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and a volunteer fireman for Protection Engine Company #1, Hastings. He was the beloved husband of the late Venezia (nee Vendetti) Bannon, who died in 1988. Mr. Bannon is survived by his devoted children, Mrs. Patricia Arone, of Hartsdale; Anthony P. Bannon of Boca Raton, FL; and Jeffrey Bannon, of Hastings. Also surviving are his eight loving grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Charles and John Bannon, and his sister, Mrs. Catherine Mari, predeceased him. Wake to be held Sunday January 23, 2000 at Hastings Funeral Home, Inc, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass is 10 am, Monday, January 24, 2000 at Saint Matthew Roman Catholic Church, Hastings. Entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery. HASTINGS FUNERAL HOME, INC 15 Spring St, Hastings (914)478-0600
