Son of Joseph and Emeline Phillips Whitten, he married Elizabeth Davis, was a retired drayman, lived on Valley Extension (322 out of Franklin going up to Cranberry), Cranberry Twp, died there of influenza, broncho-pneumonia and a collapsed lung, per death certificate 35997, whose informant was Mrs. Clarence Shaw, Valley Ext., Franklin. Buried Apr 30 1945.

George B. McClelland Whitten, 82, died at 4:50 am Sunday at his home in Valley Extension. He was born in Venango County, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Whitten.

He spent his entire life in this section, engaged in the fraying business, retiring 20 years ago.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clarissa Shaw; a sister, Mrs. Anna Dilley, Sugar Lake; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 pm Tuesday in Buchanan Funeral Home with Rev. B. E. Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.
