James Richard "Dick" Hayes, Jr., age 70, of Lithia Springs, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. He was born on January 16, 1947 in Atlanta, GA son of the late James Richard Hayes, Sr. and the late Bonnie Ruth Branson Hayes. Dick was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having achieved the rank of Staff Seargent and serving during the Vietnam War. He retired as a railroad switchman from Norfolk Southern Railway.
Dick is survived by his son, James Richard "Rick" Hayes, III and his wife, Lariyah; significant other; Sarah Locklin Taylor; granddaughter, Lilith Ama Hayes; brother-in-law, Winston Jones; niece, Bonnie Kern and her partner, Joe Shirey, Sr.; great nephews, Chris Kidd and Stephen Peel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Elizabeth Hayes Jones and nephew, Robert Ted "Bobby" Stone.
Per his wishes, he was cremated. A Private Celebration of the Life of James R. Hayes, Jr. will be held at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lariyah Hayes, on Saturday, February 4th, beginning at 12:00 PM.
