Walter T. Kearney, a lifelong resident of Medford died on March 30, 2010. He was 72 years old.
Walter was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. "Dotty" (McCarthy) Kearney and the loving father of John M. "Jack" and his wife Diane of Billerica, Maura Kearney-Mulcahy and her husband Daniel J. of Medford, Patricia M. Ricks and her husband Dr. Jon Ricks of Prosper, TX, Walter T. Kearney Jr. and his wife Kristen of Attleboro. Walter was the brother of the late Timothy P., Patrick J., Robert F. and John M. Kearney. Walter was also the dear grandfather of Jennifer, Derek, Shanon, Kasey, Devin, Kayla, Kristy Lee, Ashley, Hayden, Brian, Grant, Ryan, Kaitlin and Kylie.
The Funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Clement Church in Medford at 9 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 5, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
Walter was a Proud member of 53 years IBEW Local 103. Late member Knights of Columbus Council 141 and Holy Name Society, Sacred Heart Church, Medford. Walter was a CCD teacher and also a coach of CYO boys basketball and girls softball.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Walters memory to the Local 103, Brother Hood Fund, 256 Freeport St. Dorchester, MA 02122.
