AMITE, La. (AP) — Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies say a man who allegedly broke into a home and assaulted the owner died after a woman in the home stabbed him several times with a kitchen knife.
Deputies say 41-year-old Antoine Addison of Amite was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner.
According to a news release, several deputies responded to a burglary in progress about 9 p.m. Sunday in Hammond.
When they arrived, they learned that Addison arrived at the house wearing a mask, hood and gloves and smashed windows of a car parked at the address with a crowbar. Deputies said he then forced his way into the home where he attacked a resident with a crowbar and threatened him with a knife.
A woman, who was also in the house, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Addison several times, the release says. Addison fled the house but collapsed outside because of his injuries.
Police arrested Odell Pratt, a 45-year-old Independence woman, for driving Addison to the scene. Deputies booked with being a principal to aggravated burglary and being a principal to attempted first-degree murder.
