Frances Louise Scott, 85, of Portsmouth, went to heaven surrounded by her family Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born Jan. 31, 1931 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Arnold and Mary Belle Monk Luther.

Frances dedicated her life to raising her ten children, and she was a loving grandmother and former foster parent. She truly enjoyed making crafts and keeping up with her family through Facebook and the internet.

She attended Unity Full Gospel Fellowship and is a former Salvation Army volunteer and member of it's Home League.

Her husband, Carl Henry Scott, whom she married in Portsmouth, preceded her in death May 10, 1993.

She is survived by seven sons, Carl (Teresa) Scott of West Portsmouth, Kenny (Joni) Scott of Wheelersburg, Andy (Genny) Scott and Walter (Ruth) Scott, all of Portsmouth, Larry (Tammy) Scott of West Portsmouth, Chris Scott of Lucasville and Jimmy (Lisa) Scott of Portsmouth; three daughters, Patty Burns of Portsmouth, Barb (Lou) Pontious of West Portsmouth and Rita (Mike) Adams of Sciotoville; two brothers, Richard Luther of Detroit, MI and William Luther of Greenup; two sisters, Helen Cyrus of Portsmouth and Phyllis Harrison of Kent; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and her cat, Stripey.

She was also preceded in death by five siblings, David, Albert, Arnold, Jr. and Philip Luther, and Miriam Jean Austin; two grandsons, Michael and Christopher Scott; a son-in-law, Bill Burns; and her companion, Roland Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Richard Stiles officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am to 1 pm prior to services Friday.
