Myra grew up in Fair Oaks and was a 1942 graduate of Osborne High School, where she played basketball and was crowned Miss Osborne her senior year. She met Jobo Foster at age 12 and they were sweethearts until his passing in 2012. They enjoyed 67 amazing years of marriage.
They raised a family of three boys. She was Mom to Eddy Lee (1950 – 1964), Johnny Jobo, and Jimmy Guy: Mother in Law to Judy Kendall Foster; Grandmommy to Kendall (Samantha) and to Charter (Leigh); and, most recently, Great Myra to Marlee, Brady, Knox, Reagan, and Nolan. Every generation benefited from her gentle spirit, wise counsel, and unconditional love.
Myra's career in banking spanned nearly forty years. She began as a part-time teller at Cobb Exchange in Marietta. During a long and successful tenure there, she was named an officer of Cobb Exchange, one of the first women in Cobb County to achieve that position.
In addition to immediate family members, Myra is survived by a sister Beverly McTyre Stringfellow, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Dorothy McTyre Clark.
Services were held at East Cobb Baptist Church, 1940 Shallowford Road, Marietta, with Rev. Johnny Foster and Rev. Jimmy Foster officiating. Interment was at Chattahoochee Baptist Church Cemetery on Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
