Mary E. Brunn 84, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 7:24 P.M. Friday December 2, 2016 at Wynnfield Crossing, Rochester.

She was born on July 26, 1932 in Wabash, Indiana, the daughter of Keith and Esther O. (McCloud) Kiefaber. On January 1, 1953 in Wabash, Indiana, she married her childhood sweetheart, Donald E. Brunn. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1994.

Mary graduated from Wabash High School as class valedictorian and received her nursing degree from Ball State University. As a Registered Nurse, she had worked as a surgical nurse at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Indiana, Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, Indiana and at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, Indiana. While her husband was serving in the United States Air Force and stationed in Colorado, she worked at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. Midway through her life, she changed career paths to become a teacher. She graduated from Manchester College as valedictorian with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and received her Master’s degree in Education from Ball State University. She taught school at Caston Jr./Sr. High School, Fulton, Indiana, for over twenty two years retiring in 1992.

Mary was a dedicated church member of the First Presbyterian Church/Community Church of Rochester for many years where she had served as a Deacon, Elder and in the choir. She was a member of Tri-Kappa Sorority and Eastern Star. In her spare time, she had volunteered over the years as a nurse at Geneva Center, enjoyed reading, traveling all over the world, playing the piano, camping and her Bridge Club.

Survivors include her children, Katherine and husband Jeff Carlson, Montgomery, Minnesota, Eric and wife Norma Brunn, Columbus, Indiana, Mark and wife Diane Brunn, Springboro, Ohio, grandchildren, Joclyn and husband Jeremy Bilby, Ashland City, Tennessee, Madison and husband Michael Olson, Chaska, Minnesota, Kristin Brunn, Durham, North Carolina, Erin Brunn, Springboro, Ohio, Nicholas Brunn, Newburgh, Indiana, Megan Brunn, West Lafayette, Indiana, Lauren Brunn, Versailles, Kentucky, Kaitlin Brunn, Columbus, Indiana, two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday December 23, 2016 at Community Presbyterian Church, Rochester, Indiana, with Rev. Bill Kleymann officiating. Friends may visit from 4-8 P.M. Thursday December 22, 2016 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana and one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana.
