Jewell Mae Stark passed away March 8, 2005, at the age of 87. She was born January 2, 1918, at Miller, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Rev. Benjamin Martin and Effie Bell Boone Hooten. She married Bynum Stark, who preceded her in death July 20, 1991. Five brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. Jewell was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Gresham and her husband Bill and Claudine Stair and husband Bruce of Heber Springs, AR, a sister, Ruth Rieger of Baltimore, Maryland, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. Jewell and Bynum moved to Heber Springs when he became Director of the Cleburne County Human Services in 1942. They became members of the First Baptist Church. She taught classes in the Children's Department, and both were members of the choir. She loved her church and Sunday School Class and was faithful in attendance as long as she could. Mrs. Stark was a teacher, counselor, and educational examiner for the Heber Springs Elementary School. She retired in 1983 as Education Examiner for the Cleburne County Schools.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Dr. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cross Roads Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stephen Stair, J. T. Hopkins, Randy Gresham, Dan Gresham, Gary Burchfield, and Ryan Castleman. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
