Ishpeming – Denise M. Anderson, age 92, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2-017 at the Lighthouse at Ishpeming Health and Rehabilitation Center (formerly Mather Nursing Center) where she had resided for the past 6 years.

Denise was born November 11, 1924 in Esnux, Belgium the daughter of the late Felicien and Stephaine (Paul) Dussart. She grew up in Belgium and had met her late husband Kenneth Anderson during World War II during the Belgian Bulge. Denise traveled to the United States via boat arriving in Louisiana and then traveling to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Denise and Ken were married on April 12, 1949. Denise received her GED through night schooling and had learning the English language having been self taught. She had worked as a seamstress for 25 years and then a supervisor for a little over 3 years at the H W Gossard Co. in Ishpeming and for 10years at the Mather Nursing Center in the kitchen.

Denise was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union (ILGWU), and a former member of the auxiliaries at the VFW and American Legion. Denise had enjoyed playing BINGO.

Survivors include a niece Marlene Anderson of Ishpeming, great niece Rhonda (Fabian) Andriacchi of Ishpeming, great nephew Roy (Marsha) Anderson of Ishpeming, sister Theresa Dussart and a brother Walter Dussart both of Belgium along with many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Anderson in 1993.
They had no children.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday January 7, 2017 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Larry Van Damme to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
