Official name Morrigan Killarney O'Baylor aka Button Nose.
Morrigan was the fulfillment of a dream. Since I first saw the fuzzy face of an Irish Wolfhound in a dog stamp book, I wanted an a Wolfhound. They were expensive, and my parents did not like large dogs. When I became engaged to my husband, John Linde, he asked me if I wanted a ring. I told him ‘no’, I did not wear jewelry, but I really would love an Irish Wolfhound.
We searched breeders in the US and came up with one in Holland Michigan. She was shipped to California and we were both present to welcome her. My husband had never owned a dog, so they became playmates right away. It was soon evident that the heart of my engagement gift now belonged to my husband. A few months later we added a guard dog for me, a Doberman, who became my close companion.
Morrigan was a cheerful girl, always greeting John at the door. He spent a great deal of time training her. That was how we spent Saturdays for the longest time. She was a friendly giant who loved everyone she met. She was not above stealing however, and if you left your food, it was gone in 2 seconds without a shred of guilt.
Morrigan began to suffer from arthritis as many large breed dogs do. She found it difficult to get up and greet John, so she always lay by the door and waved her front paws to greet him.
We were both heartbroken when she suddenly became ill and had to be carried to the car as we took her to dog ER. She never regained consciousness . She passed away that night. We were both devastated.
