He was baptized at an early age at the New Bethel Baptist Church of Virginia. He later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he met and married Rebecca Barnett: to this union six children were born His oldest daughter preceded him in passing.
In 1950, he was called to serve in the Armed Forces during the Korean War. There he receivd an honorable discharge.
In 1959, hwe was baptizd in the name of Jesus and later received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Highway Christian Church under the late District Elder W.A. Thomas. He moved his membership to ST. Matthews Gospel Tabernacle, pastor Elder William A. Thomas, Sr. There he served faithfully even during his illness.
During his illiness he did many things to help others, Uncle W.H. loved to sing. His favoriteswere "This little light of mine"," I'll fly away", and "somebody touch me".
On March 4,1983 at 1pm, God called him from labor to rest at Union Memorial Hospital.
He leaves to mourn their lose a devoted wife, Rebecca, four daughters Diane, Octavia, Katherine, and Willette. One son, William H. Jr: six grandchildren. His brothers, Samuel,Thomas, Joesph, Moses, Orlando and Ollie and 2 sisters Lorraine and Gloria all are with him in heaven.
