HOUSTON, MS - Callie Elizabeth “Libba” Rogers Criddle went to her Heavenly Home Saturday December 31, 2016 . She was born in Lee County, MS near Belden on October 9, 1936, to Mamie Martin Rogers and Jeptha Edward Rogers. She was a 1954 graduate of Okolona High School where she was a member of the high school band. On September 11, 1956 she married Joseph Edward “Joe” Criddle of Houston with her father performing the ceremony in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was a charter member, in 1972, of the Chickasaw County Historical & Genealogical Society in Houston, and has been an active member since serving as President and Secretary. She and Joe have spent many years, and traveled many miles in doing family research and have been big promoters of the recently built Chickasaw Heritage Museum and Research Center in Houston. She was a faithful member of the Houston First Baptist Church and served in various aspects of church work throughout her years. She was always faithful to the Lord and her church; even in her later days. God was the most important thing in her life.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Houston with Dr. Daniel R Herringa officiating. Brother Bobby Brock and Eddie Corley will provide the music. Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home from 5 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Boones Chapel Cemetery, south of Okolona. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Edward “Joe” Criddle; two sons, John Rogers Criddle I (Deneta) of Houston and Joseph Edward “Joey” Criddle (Susan) of McMinnville, TN; her only sibling, Lottie Rogers Corley (Clayton) of Okolona; five grandchildren, John Rogers II Criddle (Jessica), Taylor Criddle (Megan), Brooks Criddle, all of Houston, MS; Megan Wooten of Branson, MO and Renee Avantes (Sergio) of McMinnville, TN; great grandchildren; Henlee and Layah Wooten and Adabelle Huffman; Bailey, Ethan, and Jack Thomas Shaw and Grady Roberts, all of the Enon Community of Houston, MS.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Elaine Criddle, in 1958; her parents, Bro. Jep Edward and Mamie Martin Rogers; her father-in-law, John L Criddle; her mother-in-law, Rena Hatley Criddle Harmon, her step father-in-law, John “Jack” Harmon; a sister-in-law, Jackie Harmon and her grandparents, William “Billy”, Belle, and Claudie Rodgers and Will and Callie Martin.

Pall bearers will be grandsons, John Rogers II, Taylor, and Brooks Criddle, Randall Perkins, Dr. Hunter Corley, Benjamin Corley, and John Clayton Corley, and Tyler Corley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Houston First Baptist Church, West Madison St., Houston, MS 38851 or to the Chickasaw County Historical & Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 42, Houston, MS 38851.
