Actor. He is recognized as a versatile Slovakian actor of the 20th century, who was born into a theatrical family with his father being well-known actor Vladimír Durdík, Sr. After graduating from the Academy of Performing Arts in 1971, he gained four years of experience at the State Theater in Košice, before starting at the Slovak National Theater in 1975. Residing behind the Communist Iron Curtain most of his life, his accomplishments were not readily known to the Western World. For years, his handsome, yet boyish, appearance gave him stage as well as television roles as the romantic leading man. He had film roles in "A Place in the House" in 1973, "Tereza" in 1976, and the made-for-television movie, "Insurgent History" in 1984. Appearing in all three episodes, his first main television role was in the 1971 miniseries "Sadness Lands Elektre." His other television roles included in 1975 "Mozolovic" and in 1978 Hviezdoslav's Epics "Ezo Vlkolinsky" and playing the main character, "Gabor Vlkolinsky." With seventeen Primetime Emmy Award nominations and five wins, his last role was Calel's father in the 2001 miniseries "Uprising" with actor Jon Voight.
