William "Bill" Caffrey was known to generations of youngsters as Bill the ice cream man. For nearly forty years, Bill was a staple of summer in Oakland, New Jersey with his classic Good Humor truck and his iconic change belt. Never one to let a kid go without, Bill was known to point kids to money they'd "dropped" to make sure they had their ice cream. The day Bill retired, summer days became a little less bright for countless residents. Even twenty years after his passing, he is fondly remembered by so many who remember his friendly smile, pleasant demeanor, and the joy he brought to so many.
