Maurice "Jake" Abendroth, age 93, of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
He was born on August 27, 1923, in Columbia County, a son of Charles and Ella (Schwandt) Abendroth.
Maurice proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He married Ella Mae Wentland on September 27, 1952, at the United Methodist Church in Markesan.
Maurice started his working career self employed, transporting livestock to Oscar Meyer. Later on he worked for Badger Mining Trucking Division, and ABN Transit Inc. He enjoyed hunting and sports, especially basketball.
Maurice is survived by his 2 sons, David (Cheryl) Abendroth of Markesan, Dean Abendroth of Markesan; 4 grandsons, Craig, Mark, Ryan, Tim; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ella Abendroth; wife, Ella (Wentland) Abendroth; son, Dale Abendroth; 2 sisters, Myrtle Henning, Frances Hanson; brother, Wilson Abendroth.
The family will be having private services at a later date at the Markesan Cemetery.
