Loving mother, grandmother and sister was called to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 24, 2016 surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Cornelius and Florence (Bulla) Sweeney, Josephine was born on February 14, 1951 in Cass City, Michigan. Josephine graduated from Ubly High School and attended Delta College. She worked at Covenant HealthCare for a number of years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Josephine was a very devoted Catholic and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, David (Michelle) Abed-Rabo, Suzanna (Mark) Williams, Jennifer (Mason) Koffman, Nadia Abed-Rabo, Joseph Abed-Rabo and Andrea Abed-Rabo; her grandchildren, Emma and Alexander Abed-Rabo, Sadie and Sullivan Koffman and Aria Abedrabo; the father of her children, Omar Abed-Rabo; seven brothers and six sisters, Dennis (Rita) Sweeney, Mary (Ken) Messing, Michael Sweeney, Patrick Sweeney, Cornelius (Kathleen) Sweeney Jr., Maureen (Thomas) Hanselman, Sarah Sweeney, Elizabeth Sweeney, Hannah Sweeney, Francis (Kimberly) Sweeney, Fredrick (Jean) Sweeney, Andrew Sweeney and Kathleen (Sujal) Patel; many nieces and nephews. Josephine was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Michalski.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Dominic Parish- St. Stephen Church, 2711 Mackinaw St. Rev. Fr. Andrew LaFramboise will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Ubly, Michigan. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:15 a.m. until the time of chapel prayers at 10:15 a.m. Family and friends will pray the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the charity of their choice.
