He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Melvin Dale Irwin and nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife, Billie; two daughters, Jeanine (Jack) Ferry of California and Brenda (Mike) Jaffie of Davenport, IA.
Melvin was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and retired from Pillsbury after 40 years of service. Melvin was a member of the Ansar Shrine.
Private burial was held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
