Wilma Avalee Padgett, age 83, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2005, at St. Edward's Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Born on November 5, 1921, at Floral, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late William Gordon and Bevan Morena (Green) Houston. Mrs. Padgett was raised in Heber Springs and moved to Jacksonville in 1951. She returned to Greers Ferry and Heber Springs in 1985. Mrs. Padgett retired from the Arkansas Highway Department as a procurement auditor. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Heber Springs and served as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Padgett was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Padgett. She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, William M. Padgett; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Melinda Padgett of Little Rock; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Dan Nowell of Benton and Wilma and Rev. Charles Armour of Ft. Smith; six grandchildren, Leslee Ingram, Kandy Jauch, Chris Moore, Charles Armour, Jonathan Armour, and Mollie Armour; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Padgett is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2005, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs with Dr. J. R. DeBusk, Rev. Van Harness, and Rev. Charles Armour officiating. Interment will follow in the Heber Springs Cemetery. Deacons of First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
