Jesse was the son of Jesse J. and Betty (Passen) Petit.

He was a 1970 graduate of St. Clairsville High School, and was employed at the Rose Valley Mine.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his sisters, Sharon K. Griswold, and Mary Susan Petit; maternal grandparents, Theodore and Mary Passen; many friends that loved him dearly.
