Jonina Maria (Nina) Breidford was born in Blaine on June 20, 1913 and died on July 18, 2003. Her parents were Chris and Bena Freeman and Nina was the 2nd oldest of their 13 children. She attended school at Birch Bay and Blaine.

Nina married John A. Breidford on April 22, 1933. In June of 1934 they purchased the Ford dealership in Blaine, which they operated from that time until 1978, as Breidford Motor Co., and later, Breidford Ford, with Nina serving as bookkeeper and co-manager. Nina was a charter member of the Free Church Unitarian and lent her beautiful soprano voice to the church choir for over 50 years. At an early age, she sang with her sisters at public functions, as well as with an Icelandic quartette for many years. She served as an officer on the church board for several terms and was active in the women's alliance. She was a member of Eastern Star, Home Demonstration Club, Music Study Club and the Blaine Senior Center, Soroptomist Club, as well as being active in various other community activities. She taught herself to play the piano, and her playing provided her and her family with many hours of pleasure. A lover of poetry, she also wrote several poems. Nina had traveled extensively, but always said that Blaine, where she lived her entire life, was the most beautiful place of all. The welcoming warmth of her home was greatly enjoyed by her family and friends. She always wanted to learn more and loved the challenge of crossword puzzles, a lively game of scrabble, and mystery stories.

Nina is survived by her three children: Virginia Claymore and Sharon (Gene) Luther of Blaine, and John T. and Anna Breidford of Palmer, Alaska seven grandchildren: Jean (Roger) Allard, John Horgdal, Jim (Kristin) Horgdal, Janet Sutton, Jeri Banaski, Kris (Tracy) Kruse, & Mike Kruse eight step-grandchildren nine great- grandchildren and six step- great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Leona (Harold) Olason brothers Lawrence (Mary) Freeman, Willard Freeman, and Douglas (Ardie) Freeman and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by husband John A. Breidford great- granddaughter Krystal Kruse sisters Lillian Bergman, Orianna Black, Lorraine O'Brine, JoAnne Gorze and brothers Wilbur Free-man, Raymond Freeman, John Freeman and Donald Freeman.

A celebration of Nina's life will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 3PM at the Blaine Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a favorite charity. The arrangements and funeral services are under the direction of the
