Fred Ray "Duke" Clifton passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016, in Dodson Village, LA.
Duke was a native of Hodge, LA. He served honorably in the U. S. Air Force for four years and then in the U. S. Air Force Reserve, when he discharged in August, 1960. He later went to work in San Antonio, TX for Straus-Frank, Inc. as a Paint Formulas, where he worked for 33 years. He continued to work part time for many years. Duke was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven and was a member of the AARP Association. He was a mentor to many people and very friendly to all he came in contact with. Duke loved to fish, fresh water fish wouldn't stand a chance when he was on the lake.
Duke leaves behind a family that will cherish his memory, his wife Margie J. Chelette-Clifton of 62 years; a son, Michael Kody Clifton and his wife Lynida of Sour Lake, TX, a sister, Reba Coleman of Sulphur, LA; three grandchildren, Kandace Boothe, of Sulphur, LA Kody Michael Clifton, and Kade Patrick Clifton of Sour Lake, TX; four great grandchildren, Payton and Taylon Hastings, and Xaydon Trahan of Sulphur, LA, and Kaselyn DaleAnn Clifton of Sour Lake, TX., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by, four brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11AM. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday, December 16, 2016 at 4pm until 8pm., a rosary will be held at 6:30pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning at 9am until time of service at the church. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
