After school she moved back to live with her family. Marilyn was strong in her faith and it was important to her to marry someone who was also strong. She turned down many suitors waiting for the right one. In 1948 she married Leon P Fisher a hick from a small town in Idaho. Even though he was a country bumpkin they worked together and grew together. She never totally weeded out the bumpkin parts of her spouse.
After 8 yrs of marriage in 1954 they started their family with the adoption of a beautiful baby boy. They also adopted two daughters and two more sons. They were the light of her life. She was devastated by the death of her oldest daughter Lynette Marie as a infant.
Motherhood was her calling. She was one of those moms who always had dinner on the table and cookies in the cookie jar. She sewed, fed, cleaned up after and nurtured her family. She also served in many church callings.
Mom was my best friend. I could talk to her about anything and everything. She even went on dates with my husband and I. We truly enjoyed her company. When I started my own family she was a support and listening ear. I called her and visited with the kids all the time. She loved spending time with the grandchildren.
As her family members started to pass away life got a little hard for her. She dearly missed her sisters Ada and Lee. When Leon passed away in 2001 a part of mom died with him. She lost some of that spunk and joy that life had brought to her. She looked at me in the hospital and told me that she did not want to be a widow for years and years like so many women do. Her own mother was a widow for 15 yrs. Soon after Dad passed mom got very sick and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She fought hard and endured much on the way to the cure that she eventually got. Unfortunately she then experienced some stokes that ultimately ended up taking her life.
Mom… I miss you so much! To this day I need you and miss you!
I love you mom, thanks for everything!
