After losing his wife Florence in 1974, John kept company with his companion, Eve, for the remainder of his life.
On the evening of New Year's Eve, 1981, John suffered cardiac arrest and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and ultimately transferred to Long Beach Memorial where he passed away.
He was survived by his son John (Abby); daughter Diane (Walt), six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
