John Dale Pass, age 82 of Marietta, passed away December 1, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born in Gordon County to the late Ella Mae Aycock and Boyce Landrum Pass.

After graduating from Red Bud High School, he received his Bachelor's Degree in education from Berry College. He began his teaching and coaching career at Duluth High School. He then moved to Elizabeth Elementary School in Cobb County where he taught and coached. After getting his Master's Degree at Auburn University, he began his administrative career at Osborne Junior High. From Osborne Junior High he went on to be principal at Elizabeth (1967-70) and Mountain View (1970-74) Elementary Schools. After finishing his Specialist Degree from Georgia State University he was chosen by Cobb County School District to open Dodgen (1975-78), Mabry (1978-83), and McClesky (1983-87) Middle Schools before retiring after 30 years in education. He then served on the Board of Education for Cobb County for two terms, serving as chairman in his second term.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Shirley; his children Terri Pass Lockridge (Mike) of Powder Springs, Sid Pass (Julia) of Grand Junction, CO, and Craig Pass (Patti) of Acworth; his grandchildren Megan L Rucker (Colin), Michelle Lockridge, Madison Pass, Jackson Pass, and Amelia Pass; and his siblings William Pass (Mary Ruth) and Joy Alexander (Hamp).

Funeral services were held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment was in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.
