Barbara Esther Cooper, 67, of Vanceburg, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Barb was born in Lewis County April 10, 1949, to Arthur Martin Dummitt of Garrison and the late Marie Kamer Dummitt.

If Barb wasn’t at her Front Street home, she was likely at Chigger’s Dairy Bar which she and husband Bill Tom opened in 1986. Barb was a 35 year member of Vanceburg Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family, her church family, and her granddog, Juliet. She was a 1967 graduate of Lewis County High School.

In addition to her father, survivors include her only daughter, Andrea Bloomfield, and son-in-law, Eric Bloomfield of Laurel; three grandchildren, Grace Bloomfield, Ethan Bloomfield and Evan Bloomfield; two sisters, Kathy (Eugene) Osborne and Crystal (Rick) Yockey, both of Garrison; and two brothers, Mark Dummitt of Vanceburg and Arnold Dummitt of Laurel.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Reis, in October 1972, and her second husband of 40 years, William T. Cooper, who died in October 2014.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Vanceburg Christian Church with Pastor Tom Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.

Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Pallbearers will be Mark Dummitt, Arnold Dummitt, Ethan Bloomfield, Evan Bloomfield, Zachary McCane and Joe Collins.
