Died in Jackson Co., IA of apoplexy aged 58 years. He was a native of Richmond, Va. and one of the first settlers of Galena. He commanded one of the first steamboats that ever ascended the Upper Mississippi and engaged extensively in the smelting of lead ore and in the mercantile business...His remains were taken to Galena and followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of his old friends and acquaintances.
