Funeral services for John Albert Mayfield, 31, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday,
Jan. 3, in Trinity Baptist Church.
The Revs. Jace Eskind and Joel Hassell will officiate. Burial will be in
Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Wednesday in
the church.
Mr. Mayfield died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, in an automobile
accident near Bell City.
A native of Elizabeth, he lived in North Carolina before moving to Lake Charles
in 1998. He was a graduate of Elizabeth High School and McNeese State
University. He was a deputy sheriff for Calcasieu Parish. He was a veteran of
the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 1 and Troop 107 Boy
Scouts of America. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Allison Blackburn Mayfield of Lake Charles; two
brothers, William Glenn Mayfield of Alexandria and Winton Roy Mayfield of
Kennewick, Wash.; and his father, Glenn Ellis Mayfield of Bogalusa.
