George Adams, 82, of Chattanooga, TN, died on Monday, March 14, 2005, in a local hospital. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 1945, where he served as the national chief of staff; DAV Robert Loveday, Chapter 6, where he served as national deputy chief of staff; Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 203; and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Adams was a lobbyist to the state of Tennessee on behalf of the Purple Heart and the DAV of Veterans Affairs. He was retired from the Tennessee State Highway Department as a master mechanic and from Orange Grove School as director of transportation.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee Adams, and his parents, Sarah Jane Calbaugh and George Hamilton Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Lorine Saynes Adams; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Kendall; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Chris Cole and Scott Shaw officiating.
Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery and will be preceded by full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel, 601 Ashland Terrace.
