Luis Enrique Vargas (or "Kike" as he is better known by his family and friends) was born on August 1, 1935 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, to very proud parents, Andres Vargas and Dolores Leon Vargas.

During the late 1940's to early 1950's, Andres and Dolores migrated to New York City to find a better life for Luis Enrique and his five siblings -- Radames (RIP), Dolores, Esther, Luz and William (RIP) -- and settled in the Longwood section of the Bronx (Eagle Avenue between East 163rd and East 161 Streets to be exact). As a child, Luis Enrique was taught the importance of being a family, hard work and to cherish the love he shared with his parents, brothers and sisters.

As a teenager, Luis Enrique took an interest in photography and later became a professional photographer. Several years after becoming a professional photographer, Luis landed a job with the repretable Spanish language newspaper El Diario/La Prensa in New York City.

After working over 25 years at El Diario, Luis soon became a freelance photograher and went on assignments for other Spanish language newspapers such as La Voz, El Vocero and Hoy.

Through the lense of his camera, Luis has captured many wonderful memories both in his everyday life and other people's lives, but the memory that WE will all miss will be his warm presence and his kind heart.

Luis Enrique Vargas is survived by his dear Wife of 43 years (at this writing), Rosa Lydia Vargas, and his five wonderful children; Henry, Rosa, Blanca, Richard and Marlene.

As he enters the gates of heaven, Luis Enrique will join his father Andres Vargas, his mother Dolores Leon Vargas, his brother Radames, his younger brother William and his nephew William Vargas and Andres Vargas.

Luis Enrique was a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend and we will all miss him very much. He was, and is still, loved by all of us.

Rest in Peace and may God Bless You Always.
