Frances graduated from Central High School in Charlotte and attended Coker College and Queens College. She worked at the American Trust Bank in Charlotte as a secretary. She then married George S. Wyant, in 1954. They moved to Spartanburg in 1956 and have lived here since.
She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she has served as an Elder and in many other areas of the church life. She also delivered meals for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg for many years and she enjoyed playing golf and bridge.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, George S. Wyant, Sr.; two sons, George S. and Mary Wyant, Jr. of Spartanburg; David M. and Kathy Wyant of Columbia, SC; daughters, Patricia "Patty" W. and William Hair of St. Matthews, SC; Rebecca "Becky" W. and Brian Dominey of Simpsonville, SC; seven grandchildren, Spencer Wyant of Charlotte, NC; Daniel and Meredith Hair of St. Matthews, SC; Olivia H. and Brooks Smith of St. Matthews, SC; Melissa Wyant and Jacquelyn "Jackie" Wyant of Columbia, SC; Juston Dominey and Nathan Dominey of Simpsonville, SC; and godson, Keith and Jody Johnston of Spartanburg. Along with her parents, she was also predeceased by three brothers, Beverly E. Barksdale II, H. William Barksdale, and J. Mac Barksdale; two sisters, Carolyn B. Christy and Florence B. Kellen.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Dale Rawlings. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
