Garrison, Loyd Ray, 88, retired Air Comfort Inc. owner, died Wednesday. Service 11 a.m. Monday, Highland Park Christian Church. Freeman Harris.

Loyd Ray Garrison, 88, passed away August 5, 2015 from kidney failure. The son of the late Elvy and Winnie Garrison and step son of the late Mary Garrison was born in Osage, Oklahoma on January 13, 1927. Loyd attended school in Wynona, Oklahoma, and served in the Armed Forces for two years in the Pacific during World War II. He was discharged from the Air Corps, November 28, 1946. Upon his return, Loyd attended Draughn's Business College in Tulsa.

Loyd worked for John Zink Company as a Sales Engineer for 20 years until he formed his own heating and air conditioning company, Air Comfort, Inc., in 1969 and worked there until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid sports enthusiast and played softball, basketball, table tennis, bowled, and was on the pit crew at the Indianapolis 500 in 1962 for the John Zink Race Team. He was active in the Oklahoma and National Senior Olympics. Loyd belonged to many square dance clubs in Tulsa, and held offices in Holmes Haylofters, Wranglers and Buckaroo. Additionally, he served as a board member of the Northeastern Oklahoma Square Dance Association. Loyd was a member of the Homebuilders Association of Tulsa, the Cosmopolitan Club of Tulsa, the OSU Master Gardner Program in Tulsa, and the Hillcrest Center for 55. For over 20 years he was an active member of the Stained Glass Guild of Oklahoma and served as Vice President and President several times. He enjoyed giving away pieces of stained glass that he had made. For 47 years Loyd attended Highland Park Christian Church and served as Deacon, fellowship chairman, and social chairman of the Crusader's Sunday School Class. He was nominated several times for Volunteer of the year in Tulsa.

Loyd loved life and was busy enjoying life to the fullest. He walked 4 miles every day while he still could. He and his wife loved traveling and made many trips to foreign countries as well as traveling throughout the United States. His last trip was to Washington D.C. in September of 2013 on the World War II Honor Flight with his daughter, Sandy.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Webb. Loyd leaves behind his wife and best friend, whom he had been married to for 64 ½ years, his two lovely daughters, and son in law, five grandchildren, a step sister, two nephews, many cousins and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2015 at Highland Park Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland Park Christian Church, 5708 E. 31st St. South, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74135.
