Robert Duane Jones was born on Wednesday, November 28, 1934 in Seminole, Oklahoma, the only son of Earnest Wilburn and Audra Irene (Chancey) Jones. He passed from this life on Saturday, July 11, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 85 years of age.

Duane was a 1952 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. He married the former Miss Anna Bernice Horn on May 6, 1955 in Coweta, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2015.

He graduated from Tulsa Welding School and worked out of state until injuring his back. He was employed as an office manager for Honeywell, then went into the farm machinery business with the local Massey Ferguson dealership. He and Bernice owned Bills “T” Records in Broken Arrow in the late 1960's and early ‘70's. He began working for Tulsa Farm Equipment selling the John Deere brand and traveled the eastern part of the state for many years. He knew every farmer in the region by name. In the mid-1980's he started dabbling in real estate and eventually he and Bernice were landlords to over 20 residential properties in Broken Arrow.

Duane was a veteran of the Air National Guard, stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. As an only child growing up on the family farm during the Great Depression and World War II, Duane was driven from an early age to work hard and to succeed. With the support of his wife, for decades he maintained both his full-time job and farming part-time. Alongside his father and eventually his son, many acres of soybeans and wheat were planted and harvested in the evenings and on weekends.

Bernice always kept a plate of food warm for him until he came home, and he delighted in her extraordinary Southern cooking skills. In his younger years and during the off-season, he enjoyed racing electric cars with his children, jigsaw puzzles, reading, Dallas Cowboy football, growing a beautiful yard, and movies at home with Bernice. When video games came along, his pastime became competing against his grandsons every chance he got, upgrading his gaming systems repeatedly throughout the years. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.

He and his family have been a part of Broken Arrow Assembly of God for more than 60 years. He was a member of the Harbor Lights class at The Assembly.

He is survived by;
Daughter, Cheryl and husband Russell McGuire, Broken Arrow, OK

Son, Robbie and wife Michele Jones, Miami, OK
