Margaret Ilene Burgess-Arndt, 61, of Midland, passed away at the MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland, on March 7, 2010.

Margaret was born on July 25, 1948, in Emporia, Kan., to the late George and Marie (Christensen) Babb of Waverly, Kan. In January 2007, she married Tony Arndt in Midland.

Margaret enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, her animals, helping others, and spending time with her family.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Tony; daughter, Leisa Arndt of New York, N.Y.; sons Steven Burgess of Detroit, and David Burgess of Midland; stepchildren, Joanna Stephens of Midland, Tony Arndt Jr. of Midland, and Cristina Dickerson of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren; and her sister, Irene Shipps of Iola, Kansas.

A funeral service will be held at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 11 a.m., with The Rev. Mike Luce of the Poseyville United Methodist Church officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 4-7 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
