Joseph Ackley, Jr., 86, of Harrison St., died January 13, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Rachidi (Kalaf) Ackley. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lamya (Peters) Ackley.
A BMC Durfee high school graduate, he was a WWII veteran of the US Army and worked as a custodian for the City of Fall River school department. He held memberships at both the Lebanese American Veterans Association and the Lebanon American Club.
Besides his wife of 40 years, he is survived by a daughter, Elaine Davenport of Warwick, R.I., step-son, Charles Kalaf of Fall River, sister, Evelyn Botelho of Fall River and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late George and Thomas Ackley.
Friends and relatives gathered at St. Anthony of the Desert Church for his funeral mass which was celebrated by Rev. George Almeida. Committal Services were held at Notre Dame Mausoleum in Fall River MA..
