Daughter of Charles E Griffith & Elizabeth Lander Foresman. Her mother died when she was 3yrs of age, in Chicago. Her father Charles, moved to Seattle and later back to Kansas, his home state and remarried.

Helen lived with her grandmother, Priscilla Griffith in Los Angeles. (1910 & 1920 Federal Census indexed (misspelled) under name: Griffil)

Helen attended Occidental College in L..A., age 19y.

In 1917, she married to Dr. Charles Marvyn Alderson and they had two daughters: Elizabeth B (Little), 1918-1996 & Helen Virginia (Lares),1923-2011.
