JOHN DUCKER DIES
On Sunday, Dec. 9, 1934, at 9 o'clock a.m. the Pale Boatman carried from our shore to the great beyond, our 'Daddy,' John Ducker, son of Nathan and Ellen Ducker. He was born Aug. 31, 1853. On October 20, 1880, he was united in marriage to Kate Hatfield. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Pearl Prow, deceased; Mrs. Orine Gillespie, Ellettsville; Lee Ducker, of Bedford; Gus Ducker, of Stinesville. His wife preceded him in death April 21, 1903. Later he was united in marriage to Mary Bowman, who still survives.
He leaves besides the wife and children, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five step children; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Wingler, of Paragon and Mrs. Lizzie Wisenberger, of New Albany, Ind.; two brother, Herb and Charlie Ducker, of Oolitic, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The chair is vacant, the sweet voice is stilled, and the spirit of Daddy has gone to Him who said, "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God."
Daddy darling, how we miss you,
Oh, how hard to say the word,
We must part of earth forever,
Break the loving tender cord,
But you surely have been a daddy,
Just an angel in your home,
And your love was so unselfish,
That it reached beyond your own.
