Charles was my father. The 7th & youngest child born to Walter Eastland Ward and Ora Belle Morris Ward. In 1962 he married Marilyn Elaine Daugherty. In 1963 their daughter Melanie was born. In 1965 their son Charles Jr was born. Then tragically in 1967, at the age of 23, he was killed in an auto accident on Hwy 19 between Canton & Athens Texas. Charles was born in Martins Mill in Van Zandt County Texas and died between Martins Mill & Athens in Henderson County Texas.

As a child, I asked "Momma why did God take my Daddy" and was always reminded:
"Romans 8:28...And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
