A Special Love

My son, so kind, so strong, so gentle,
Your love always revealing,
The sweet and trusting one you were,
Attuned to others' feelings.
A friend to all who cared to share,
Your warm and playful smile,
You added joy to life each day,
Endearing, all the while.

A bright and caring lad were you,
When you took your leave,
From loving and devoted arms,
Leaving me to grieve.
Why must it be that you must go,
So much you had to give,
This world that needs your special love,
If only you had lived.

A rare and precious jewel were you,
Loaned me to be cherished.
You were my bright and shining star,
And are now, though you perished;
My love for you will never wan,
Though moments slip to years.
You will remain my gift from God,
Despite my hurt and tears.

My everlasting love for you,
Will never fade away,
But will remain forever true,
Until my passing day.
Till then, your special love lives on,
Through those with whom you shared,
A better life than e'er before,
A life of love and care.
