Rick was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, and spent his training at Ft. Carson, CO, as tank gunner and also did a six month tour in Weisbaden, Germany.
On November 11, 1972 he married Rebecca Jo Gladding. Together they had three sons: Adam, Warren and Ryan.
Richard worked as a Mason and Truck Driver for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending local sporting events. Richard was an outstanding athlete, earning letters at four different schools. He excelled at wrestling, basketball, softball, track and cross country. He was an excellent carpenter and made many beautiful items.
Richard was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with friends. He had a contagious laugh, great sense of humor and lots of wise cracks. Richard had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger.
Richard is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of 43 years; three sons, Adam (Molly) Burhans, of Clare, Warren (Lisa) Burhans of Shepherd and Ryan Burhans of Clare; grandchildren Jalyn, Jace, Allison and Emily Burhans; two brothers, Tony Burhans and Carey Burhans; two sisters in law, Melissa Gladding and Pam (Rod) Ewalt; father-in-law Max Gladding; nieces, Samantha Sniegowski, Stephanie Darling, Sarah Moffett and many more.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Janet Burhans, and brother Dale (Pat) Burhans.
Cremation has already taken place and there will be a memorial Service held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Seville Community Church of God in Elwell, with Pastor George Showers Officiating.
