Elza Louise Hobbs Haddox of Sapulpa went home to be with the Lord on Saturday Jan 7, 2006 at the age of 86. She was born Oct 21, 1919 in rural Oktaha. Her parents, who preceded her in death, were Louis and Elsie Gray Barnes. While Louise was growing up she spent many hours helping her dad work the land, which he farmed most of his life. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws C. W. and Gladys Hobbs. She graduated from Wainwright High School in 1938 and then attended Connors State College as well as Oklahoma State Tech at Okmulgee where she received her certificate in Key Punch in 1967. She married Glenn Carl Hobbs Sr. on Dec 30, 1939. He preceded her in death on Dec 3, 1964. Together they had three children Glenn "Carl" Hobbs Jr., Nytasha Viola Kress, and a stillborn son Charley William Hobbs. She later married Raymond Haddox on Nov. 28, 1975 who also preceded her in death on April 15, 1982. Her son-in-law Ron Kress recently preceded her in death. Granny Louise, as she was known to many, is survived by her son Carl Hobbs and wife Pat, of Kellyville; daughter Nytasha Viola Kress, of Sapulpa; her two sisters Roberta Neel and husband Clarence, of Muskogee, and Aldena Powell and husband Jerrel of Council Hill; her five grandchildren Charles Hobbs and wife Stephanie, of Sapulpa; Mike Hobbs and wife Kim of Bristow; Carla Cale and husband Randy, of Sapulpa; Darla Means, of Kellyville; and Waine Kress and wife Sheila, of Little Elm, Texas. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren Leslie Lindsey and Joshua Hobbs, of Bristow; Rebecca, Jessica, and C J Hobbs, of Sapulpa; Jacob Cale of Sapulpa; and the newest arrival 1-week old Michael Kress, of Little Elm, Texas and a host of family and friends. Granny enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, working crossword puzzles and playing board games with her family and friends. She spent many of her last years residing in Sapulpa, Kellyville and Bristow as well as Rapid City, S. D. She was a faithful Christian and dedicated member of Deerwood Faith Fellowship in rural Kellyville. Her family and friends were blessed with many years with Granny here on Earth and look forward to joining her in Heaven when our work on Earth is complete. Graveside services and burial will be held at Bald Hill Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her first husband Glenn Carl Hobbs Sr. Services are scheduled for 1 pm Wednesday, Jan 11, 2006 with the Rev. Terrell Copeland officiating. Honorary pall bearers are her three grandsons, Charles Hobbs, Mike Hobbs, and Waine Kress. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday. The family has entrusted the care of the services to the directors of Smith Funeral Home.
