Mrs Ira Guiltner, aged 72 years, 1 months, and 26 days. The funeral will be held at the Cabery Presbyterian Church, Friday at 1 o'clock and the interment will be made at the Eldridgeville Cemetery. Rev. G.E. Young of Herscher will conduct the services.
Sarah Maria Patterson was born at St. Albans, Vermont on February 5th, 1832. When she was 10 years old she went to York State where they lived several years then moving to Michigan. They remained there but a short time going from there to Wilmington, Ills. When they arrived at Chicago, the train for Wilmington on the Chicago & Alton had gone and as the trip was only made twice a week the family had to wait there several days. There was only one little hotel and but very few houses, and the place was little more than a large swamp.
In 1855, she was married to Ira Guiltner and for six years they lived in Plainsfield, Ills.In 1861, they moved to the old homestead in Kankakee County, where Mrs. Guiltner lived for forty-four years and until her death.
She was the mother of seven children. Her sons, William and Lionel, and one daughter Mrs. I.E. Carpenter, survive her. Her husband died March 26, 1896. She was a good woman and a loving mother and a large concourse of sympathizing friends mourn her loss. Her serious illness dates back only two weeks and though the physician had told the family that recovery was impossible, yet the end was not so looked for so soon. The last days were marked with little suffering and when the final summons came she quietly passed away, surrounded by her all of her immediate relatives.
