Reported age at time of death was 26 years, so evidently born about 1861. Died in Browneville, the name of which was changed to Phenix City in 1889; it was in Lee County at that time. She is also said to have been born in Browneville, but I'm not sure Browneville existed yet.

Daughter of William R. MARTIN by his first wife, Jane McCOLLISTSER, who married in 1855 (he married second in 1871 to her sister, the widow Mrs. Mary (McCOLLISTER) SUMMERSGILL.

Mary Ann MARTIN married 07 NOV 1878 in Lee County, Alabama, to Joseph H. BARR, son of Adam Young & Elizabeth D. (MULLINS) BARR. Joseph married second on 07 APR 1889 in Lee County, Alabama, to Georgia Alice MOORE. Mary Ann is the mother of at least three children: William B. "Willie BARR (1879-1881); Henry BARR (b. ca. 1883); and unknown BARR b. about DEC 1886.

Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Mrs. Mary A. BARR died aged 26 years; buried 08 JUN 1887 in Section C, Lot 828 - Sexton Abraham ODOM.

This grave is probably not identifiably marked.
