Longtime Kasilof resident Franklin E. Bush, 95, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 at Central Peninsula Hospital with his family by his side.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Territorial Way Cemetery in Kasilof. Chaplain Tim Weekly officiated. Pallbearers were John Bush, David Bush, Dana Bush, Steve Fowler, Daniel Graham and Brandon Bush.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Frank was born March 30, 1920 in Taft, California and graduated from Maricopa High School. He worked in the Norwalk Refinery in Maricopa, California from 1942-44 when he began serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46 as Seaman First Class, serving aboard the USS Saginaw Bay CVE-82. Frank moved to Alaska in 1958 and worked for Chevron USA in the Swanson River Oilfield. He retired as a field foreman in 1983.He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, farming and playing kismet.

"Dad was a man of principle and taught by example. I'll miss my hero and mentor," his son David wrote.

"I hope you know how much I loved you and how special you are to me. I'll forever treasure the memories you have given me and will try every day to be half as good a person as you were. My comfort is hoping that even though you weren't awake towards the end that you somehow knew I never left your side. Please watch over me, give Grandma my love, and I hope that for the rest of my life I will make you both proud. I love you Grandpa. Rest In Peace," his granddaughter, Brittany Bush wrote.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Bush, sons, Billy, Edward and Daniel Bush, daughter, Sheila Gossett, son-in-law, James Gossett, grandson, Robert Bush Jr. and brother-in-law, Dean Ruch.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James Bush, Robert and Wilda Bush, Ronald Bush and Donald Bush, all of Kasilof, John and Diane Bush of Soldotna, and David and Ann Bush of Kasilof; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
